Motown Word search

Why I Wrote Motown Word Search

This is by far my best selling book. I wrote Motown Word Search because Motown music has always held a special place in American music history—and for many of us, it holds a special place in our memories as well. There is something about hearing a great Motown song that can take you back to a particular time, place, or moment in your life.

As I worked on this book, I found myself revisiting some of the incredible artists and groups who helped make Motown famous. Names like The Temptations, The Supremes, The Four Tops, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles, The Jackson 5, Martha and the Vandellas, The Marvelettes, Gladys Knight & the Pips, and The Isley Brothers represent just a portion of the remarkable talent associated with the Motown sound.

And then there are the songs. Who can forget classics like “My Girl,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “I Heard It Through the Grapevine,” “Stop! In the Name of Love,” “You Can’t Hurry Love,” “Dancing in the Street,” “Superstition,” “What’s Going On,” and “Reach Out I’ll Be There”? These songs didn't simply fill the radio—they became part of the soundtrack of an era.

I wanted to take that nostalgia and combine it with something fun and relaxing: the traditional word search puzzle. As you work through the puzzles, you'll discover familiar names, songs, groups, and words connected with the Motown era. I hope that finding each word brings back a memory or perhaps inspires you to listen to some of these great songs again.

My goal in creating Motown Word Search was to provide more than just puzzles. I wanted to create an enjoyable trip down memory lane for longtime Motown fans while also introducing younger generations to some of the incredible music and artists that helped shape American popular music.

Whether you remember listening to Motown on the radio, dancing to these songs with friends, or simply appreciate great music, I hope you have as much fun solving these puzzles as I had putting the book together.

So grab a pencil, put on your favorite Motown playlist, and start searching!
